On Saturdays, I often go to the bookstore near the station. I do not always buy something. Sometimes I just walk around and look at covers. The bookstore is small but well organized. The owner knows me by now. He nods when I come in. I usually start at the fiction shelves. I pick up books, read the first page, and put them back. If a sentence catches my attention, I keep reading. Today I found a thin novel about a baker who cannot sleep. I read three pages standing up. I bought it. I also bought a coffee from the small counter at the back. I sat by the window and read for an hour. Outside, people walked past with shopping bags. Inside, it was quiet. This is my favorite kind of weekend.
