every successful person in this world has jumped.

I'm gonna tell you what I mean by that.

You eventually, you are going to have to jump.

You cannot just exist in this life.

You have got to try to live.

If you are waking up,

thinking that it's gotta be more to your life than it is,

man, believe that it is.

Believe in your heart of hearts that it is.

But to get to that life, you gonna have to jump.

I'll tell you why I call it jumping.

See, God, when He created all of us,

He gave every last one of us a gift at birth.

He never created a soul without endowing them with a gift.

You just gotta quit looking at gifts

as running, jumping, singing, dancing.

It's more than that.

It's if you know how to network,

if you can connect dots, if you draw, if you teach.

Some of y'all fry chicken better than anybody else.

誰よりも上手に鶏肉を揚げられる人もいるし

Baked pie.

パイを焼く人もいます

Some of you cut hair, color hair.

髪を切ったり、色を入れたりする人もいる

Some people do grass.

芝生の手入れをする人もいます

I got a partner, man.

僕にはパートナーがいるんだ

We never wanted to go out with us

because we stayed out too late.

That's his gift.

That's what he love to do.

You've got to identify that gift.

自分の才能を見つけないといけない。

Now listen to me.

いいから聞いてくれ。

When you see people in life,

人生の中でこういう人を見ることがあるだろう。

when you're standing on the cliff of life

人生の崖っぷちに立っている時に、

and you see people soaring by,

空を舞う人たちが目に入る。

when you see people soaring, going to exotic places,

空を舞い、異国の地へ行く人たちを見る。

you hear about them doing wonderful things.

素晴らしいことを成し遂げてると耳にする。

Maybe you look up the street

通りに目をやれば、

and your neighbor just gets a car every year

近所の人は毎年車を買い替えてる。

and every two years.

2年ごとにね。

You know, how is he doing that?

一体どうやってるんだろうと思う。

Have you ever thought maybe this person right here

考えたことはあるか、その人はもしかしたら

has identified their gift and is living in their gift

自分の才能を見つけて、それを生きているのかもしれない。

because your Bible says,

聖書にはこう書いてある。

this your Bible says your gift will make room for you.

聖書は、あなたの才能があなたに道を開くと言っている。

Your gift, not your education.

学歴じゃない、才能なんだ。

You go get education, that's nice.

教育を受けるのはいいことだ。

But if you don't use your gift,

でも自分の才能を使わなければ、

that education only gonna take you so far.

その教育で行けるのはそこまでだ。

I know a lot of people got degrees, man.

学位を持ってる人はたくさん知ってる。

They ain't even using them.

でも全然使いこなせてない。

It's your gift.

大事なのは才能だ。

But the only way for you to soar is you got to jump.

でも空を舞う唯一の方法は、飛び降りることだ。

You got to take that gift

その才能を持って行かないといけない。

that's packed away on your back.

背中に背負ったままのその才能を。

You got to jump off that cliff and pull that cord.

崖から飛び降りて、そのコードを引くんだ。

That gift opens up and provides the soil.

才能は開き、大地を用意してくれる。

If you don't ever use it, you're gonna just go to work.

使わなければ、ただ仕事に行くだけの日々になる。

And if you getting up going to work on a job every day

毎日起きて仕事に向かうけど、

that you hate going to, that ain't living, man.

行くのが嫌な仕事なら、それは生きてるとは言えない。

You just existed.

ただ存在してるだけだ。

At one point in time, you ought to see what living's like.

いつかは、生きるとはどういうことか知るべきだ。

But the only way to see what living like,

でも生きることを知る唯一の方法は、

you got to jump.

飛び降りることなんだ。

And here the problem, let me just be real with you.

そして問題はここだ。率直に言わせてくれ。

When you first jump, let me tell you something,

最初に飛び降りるとき、ちょっと聞いてくれ。

your parachute will not open right away.

パラシュートはすぐには開かない。

I'm sorry.

申し訳ない。

I wish I could tell you it did, but it don't.

開くと言ってあげたいけど、開かないんだ。

When you jump, it's not going to open right away.

飛び降りても、パラシュートはすぐには開かない。

You're gonna hit them rocks.

岩にぶつかるぞ。

You're gonna get some skin tore off on them cliffs.

崖で皮膚が削られる。

You're gonna get all your clothes tore off.

服も全部破ける。

You're gonna get some cuts on you.

ケガもするだろう。

You're gonna be bleeding pretty bad.

かなり流血するかもしれない。

But eventually, eventually the parachute has to open.

だがやがて、やがてパラシュートは必ず開く。

That is a promise of God.

それは神の約束だ。

That ain't a theory.

理論じゃない。

That's a promise.

約束なんだ。

His promises is true.

神の約束は真実だ。

Cause listen to me.

聞いてくれ。

You cannot name one single thing

ひとつ名前を挙げてみろ。

God has not gotten you through.

神が乗り越えさせてくれなかったことが。

Name it.

言ってみろ。

And if he ain't got you through it,

そしてもし神が乗り越えさせなかったなら、

he currently pulling you through it right now.

今まさに乗り越えさせている最中だ。

And the living proof of it is you sitting in here.

その証拠は、今ここに座っているお前だ。

If he hadn't got you through it,

神が乗り越えさせなかったら、

you wouldn't even be here.

お前はここにいないはずだ。

So if he ain't never not got you through it,

だからこれまで一度も乗り越えさせなかったことがないなら、

why would he not let your parachute open?

どうしてパラシュートを開かせてくれないと思う？

He, it has to open, man.

必ず開くんだ。

But you gotta jump though.

だがお前が飛び降りなきゃダメだ。

Now, here's another thing.

今度は別な話だ。

You can play it safe and deal without the cuts

傷も避けて、安全に過ごすことはできる。

and the tears, and you can stand on that cliff

涙も避けて、その崖に立ったまま、

of life forever safe.

人生を永遠に安全に過ごすこともできる。

But if you don't jump,

だが飛び降りなければ、

I got another promise I can make you.

もうひとつ約束できることがある。

Your parachute will never open.

パラシュートは永遠に開かない。

You'll never know.

わかることはない。

You'll never know what God really have for you.

神が本当に持っているものが何かわからない。

See, your God has a wonderful life for you.

見ろ、神はお前に素晴らしい人生を用意している。

Once again, I'm gonna refer to your Bible.

もう一度、聖書に触れたい。

Now you go down there, you memorize these scriptures.

お前たちは下に行って、これらの聖句を暗記する。

You don't apply them to yourself.

だがそれを自分に当てはめない。

Your Bible says that he comes to give you life

お前たちの聖書に言ってある。彼は来て、お前に人生を与えるのだと

and give you life more abundantly.

そしてさらに豊かな人生を与えるのだと。

If I were you, I would jump

もし俺がお前なら、飛び降りる。

because that's the only way to get to that abundant life.

なぜなら、その豊かな人生を手に入れる唯一の道だからだ。

You got to jump, man.

飛び降りるしかないんだ、兄貴。

You gotta take a chance.

思い切ってやるしかない。

Now, when I get through talking,

さて、俺の話が終わった時、

there are those of you who have discussed this in the car.

お前たちの中には車の中でこのことについて話し合った者がいるだろう。

Well, I got bills, and I got bills.

『まあ、俺には請求書がある』と。

Whether you stay on the cliff or you jump,

崖に留まろうと、飛び降りようと、

you gonna have bills.

どっちにしろお前には請求書がつきまとう。

Well, if I quit my job, I'm gonna ruin my credit.

『仕事を辞めたら、信用が台無しになっちゃう』と。

If you got a job, you live in check to check.

仕事があれば、給料から給料へと生活してる。

Even if you got a one credit,

ちょっとした信用があっても、

you can't buy nothing else, no damn way.

他に何も買えやしない。絶対にな。

At one point in time, man, do yourself a favor.

人生のどこかの時点で、自分にご褒美をやれよ。

Go see what God really do.

神が本当は何をするのか、行って見てこい。

God hold you up, man.

神がお前を支えるんだ、兄貴。

He ain't gonna let you fall.

奴はお前を落とさない。

He ain't bring you this far, let you fall.

こんなに遠くまでお前を連れてきといて、落とすなんてことはしない。

Do yourself a favor, man.

自分にご褒美をやれよ、兄貴。

Before you leave this world, before you die, jump.

この世を去る前に、死ぬ前に、飛び降りろ。

Just jump one time.
